Read More March is Women’s History Month, and it’s important for Break the Cycle and you for many reasons.

Participants were first interviewed about their dating experiences when they were ages 12-18, and then again five and 12 years later.

There are stories from women with disabilities and from young people under 25.

This is Real Stories - a blog by Let's Be Real members about their experiences with relationships, dating, and daily life.

Most of these stories are from women in heterosexual relationships, but some are from women in lesbian relationships, and some are from men in heterosexual relationships.

People have told their stories in the hope that they will help others who are being abused.

But I am here to tell you abuse can happen to anyone, at anytime, anywhere in the world. He needed me to be the loving, caring woman in his life, and I happily accepted the role. It was like I knew for sure there was no way this moment was possibly happening in my world. His solid five-foot nine-inch frame towered over me, barely five feet tall, waiting for me to move, hoping I’d react so he could do it again. My mind was racing and I was terrified of my parents finding out what just occurred outside the door. I just looked at myself in the mirror and tried to understand what just happened between us. Every good memory, every kiss, was wiped away with one swift slap.
